Abstract

Water resources and their space-temporal distribution are inevitably linked to climatic variability. In order to visualize the manifestations of climate change and their impacts on surface and groundwater resources in the Sefrou and Anoceur causses that are part of the northern Atlas Middle moroccan, we have proceeded to the analysis and statistical study of long climatic data Chronicles (1930/31-2014/2015 and 1968/69-2014/15) of five meteorological stations representative of the study area. The approach adopted: (1) critical and filling of the incomplete data, (2) analysis of the climatic and hydrologic variability (sources and River Aggay) interannually based on the calculation of annual rainfall and hydrological indices for a long time; (3) The application of the CUSUM and the Emberger methods, (4) The correlation between debit and rainfall.

We have seen that the study area has undergone remarkable climate change. Wet periods were more frequent from 1930/31 up to 1977/78. The 1968/69-2014/15 series is distinguished by the succession of three periods: wet period (1968/69-1977/78), dry period (1978/79-2007/08) and period that appears normal (2008/09-2014/15). The second dry period was persistent and very severe especially for the years 1994/95, 1998/99, 1999/2000. This drought was recovering between 2011/12 and 2013/14, becoming very severe for the year 2015/2016. The succession of drought periods resulted in the reduction of groundwater and surface water resources in the Sefrou and Anoceur causses.
